5.3    Multipoint excitation

Standard point port is applied to a single mesh cell. In case of transmission line ports the point port is used as an energy injection point for dynamic template mode generation. In case when mesh is dense and the transmission line port contains many cells, the injection point is weakly coupled with the port. Such situation requires longer simulation time to get the template mode generated. To speed up the process of dynamic template generation the user can enable the multipoint option, which changes the single injection point into the rectangular matrix of injection points. The user defines the size of extension (the matrix size) as dimension/wavelength ratio. Optionally the matrix can be reduced to a line of injection points (going through the original injection point) by defining the size parameter as valueV or valueH, where V and H stands for vertical and horizontal line respectively.

The multipoint option can be also used for point sources in 3D circuits to speed up the process of energy delivery to the circuit. The single lumped source is then extended to a cube. In this case, the cube of point sources can be reduced to a plane (going through the original injection point) by defining the size parameter as valueX or valueY or valueZ.

Attention: The S-parameters calculation for multipoint option, used for point sources in 3D circuits, is not available.
