4.9    Real and Imaginary Grid

QuickWave enables periodic boundary conditions (PBC), which allow for analysing infinitely periodic structures. Fundamentals of the periodic FDTD algorithm implemented in QW-3D are described in reference see [17] in User Guide 3D: Bibliography. According to them real and imaginary grids of electromagnetic components are defined and calculation of both grids is performed concurrently.

2D/3D Fields Distribution window allows displaying fields on the real and imaginary FDTD grid separately.

The fields on the real FDTD grid are displayed by default or can be switched on using Switch->Re/Im Grid->Real command from main menu or context menu.

The fields on the imaginary FDTD grid can be switched on using Switch->Re/Im Grid->Imaginary command from main menu or context menu.

For more information and examples please refer to the analysis of periodic structures (see User Guide 3D: Examples of periodic structures).
