7.3 Energy results
After checking the Energy [nJ] option, the Energy frame shows the results of integrating stored energy in [nJ].
At each FDTD iteration the software performs the following operations:
sums up electric energy stored in all FDTD cells (current Electric Energy),
sums up magnetic energy stored in all FDTD cells (current Magnetic Energy),
adds up current Electric Energy and current Magnetic Energy (current Total Energy).
Then it compares current value of each quantity to its time-minimum (MIN) and time-maximum (MAX), appropriately modifies MIN or MAX, and re-calculates time-average (AVR) defined as:
AVR = 0.5 (MIN + MAX)
The check boxes are available to suppress the integration of electric or magnetic stored energy, if unneeded.
