8.1.1 Import
QuickWave enables geometry import of popular CAD formats:
QW-Editor:
- *.dxf – the files in DXF format can be converted into UDO script format. This feature is available via DXF Converter. To assure correct conversion process, the *.dxf file must be prepared according to compatibility rules with 3D volumetric modelling. The DXF Converter allows for conversion of 2D elements and it can convert only elements described by their geometry. The elements, which in DXF format have not been described by their coordinates, will not be converted. The practical application of DXF Converter has been discussed in User Guide 3D: Basic example of application of DXF Converter.
- *.sat – the files in ACIS SAT format can be converted to UDO script format. This feature is available via SAT Filter. This application is and add-on to the QW-3D package. Note that the *.sat file must be prepared with a view to its application in 3D EM modelling. It must be prepared according to compatibility rules with 3D volumetric modelling, be internally consistent and must provide a 3D volumetric description. In particular, "shell type" geometries are illegal since they cannot be automatically converted into volumes - even if they appear correct in the SAT viewing tools. The practical application of SAT Filter has been discussed in User Guide 3D: Basic example of application of SAT Filter.
QW-Modeller: offers the import of popular CAD formats, which are enabled in FreeCAD open source tool, e.g. *.iges, *.step, *dwg, *.dxf, *.brep, etc. For more information please refer to QW-Modeller manual.
QW-AddIn for AutodeskÒ InventorÒ Software: offers the import of popular CAD formats, which are enabled in AutodeskÒ InventorÒ Software, e.g. *.sat, *.iges, *.step, etc. For more information please refer to QW-AddIn for AutodeskÒ InventorÒ Software manual.
