7.1.2 Results Display
Results display of Power, Energy & Q-factor window presents the results of dissipated power and stored energy, as well as Q-factors extracted from the ratio of these quantities.
Upon invoking Power, Energy & Q-factor window the QW-Simulator starts searching for time-maximum and time-minimum values of power dissipated and energy stored in the circuit. At each time-step it integrates (over the whole circuit) power and energy. At the iteration when the window is opened, it sets the maximum and minimum values of all quantities to their current values. Then at the iteration it re-calculates their maxima and minima, and presents the results in the Power, Energy & Q-factor window.
The information about FDTD iterations is displayed in the status bar.
Note that spatial integration of power and energy is carried out at each time step, over the whole computational volume, and therefore significantly slows down the FDTD analysis.
The title of the results display shows the information about the frequency (or frequency range) used for calculations.
The results display shows the following results:
· Energy
· Q-factor
The Power, Energy & Q-factor window contains of the following controls:
- Refresh every N iteration (s) field specifies how often the content of the window are to be refreshed. Note that spatial integration and a search for new maxima/minima are performed at every time-step, irrespectively of this field’s setting. The setting of N>1 serves only to avoid screen flickering in the case of small circuits. Note that the new value of N is actually taken by QW‑Simulator after the Set button is pressed. To avoid confusion, after the value of N is written in the box and before Set is pressed, this value shows up in red.
- opens Selected Dense Media dialogue for selecting dense media that will be used in Pdiss (if Dense regions only option is ON) and/or Energy (if Dense regions only option is ON) calculations. For detailed discussion concerning application of this option refer to Power dissipated, energy stored and Q-factors.
- resets all the results and restarts integration in space at the particular iteration
- displays the results for the real grid (available in the analysis of periodic structures - 3DP circuit type)
- displays the results for the imaginary grid (available in the analysis of periodic structures - 3DP circuit type)
