2.2.3   Scale

The Results window enables the following scaling for displayed results values:

Linear scale can be set using button_scale_lin button in Scale tab and Scale->Type->Linear command from main menu or context menu.

Decibel scale can be set using button_scale_db button in Scale tab and Scale->Type->Decibel command from main menu or context menu. Basically, values Vlog in the decibel scale are calculated from values Vlin in the linear scale as: Vlog=20 log(Vlin/L), where L=1 in the units of Vlin. Certain quantities cannot be converted to decibel scale.

Quadratic scale can be set using button_scale_qu button in Scale tab and Scale->Type->Quadratic command from main menu or context menu. Basically, values Vsqr in the quadratic scale are calculated from values Vlin in the linear scale as: Vsqr=(Vlin)2. Certain quantities cannot be converted to quadratic scale.

Please note that Smith chart always displays the results in Linear scale.

The button_scale_auto button in Scale tab allows changing selected Left or Right scale to automatic. The minimum and maximum scale values will be automatically adjusted to the visible curves assigned to the particular scale.

The  button in Scale tab allows changing selected Left or Right scale to automatic. The minimum, maximum and particular scale values will be automatically adjusted.

The button_scale_set button in Scale tab and Scale->Set… command from main menu or context menu invoke Scaling dialogue for setting scale parameters.

The button_scale_choice button in Scale tab and Scale->Scale Choice… command from main menu or context menu invoke Scale Choice dialogue for assigning results curves to Left or Right scale in XY chart.

The button_scale_gridv button in Scale tab and Scale->Grid Values command from main menu or context menu switch on or off values for grid lines.

The button_scale_second button in Scale tab and Scale->Auto Second Scale command from main menu or context menu allows the second scale (Right) to automatically appear on the right hand side of XY chart, if any curve assigned to the Right scale is displayed simultaneously with a curve assigned to Left scale. If the domain scale setting for the Right scale is different than domain scale setting for the Left scale, additional domain scale will be added on the top of XY chart.

Three predefined scales are available:

The button_scale_def1 button in Scale tab sets Defined Scale 1 settings to Left and/or Right scale, depending on the button_scale_leftright choice made in the Scale tab.

The button_scale_def2 button in Scale tab sets Defined Scale 2 settings to Left and/or Right scale, depending on the button_scale_leftright choice made in the Scale tab.

The button_scale_def3 button in Scale tab sets Defined Scale 3 settings to Left and/or Right scale, depending on the button_scale_leftright choice made in the Scale tab.

The button_scale_defset button in Scale tab invokes Scaling dialogue for setting scale parameters for Defined Scales.
