• Frequency range:
5 – 9 GHz (standard; extended 2 – 18 GHz*)
  • Usable cavity range:
Up to ~60 GHz** (fundamental mode limit)
  • Magnetic bias:
Hand‑held tunable magnet (external bias recommended > 18 GHz)
  • Sample type:
Low‑/moderate‑loss ferrite spheres
  • Sample diameter:
D < 0.6 mm
  • Linewidth capability (ΔH):
  • < 0.25 Oe @ 2 GHz
  • < 5 Oe @ 5 GHz
  • < 30 Oe @ 18 GHz
  • Instrumentation:
VNA (e.g., PNA‑X N5245A) or Q‑Meter
  • Temperature:
Room temperature
  • Electrodynamic‑model‑based software extracts ΔH from MPR frequency and Q‑factor.
  • Continuous broadband measurement at the sample’s resonant mode (software‑assisted).

* Extended 2 – 18 GHz operation via spacer sleeves and cavity support changes. ** Cavity acts as a mechanical holder up to ~60 GHz; operation beyond 18 GHz requires stronger magnetic bias (e.g., external magnet).

In a typical test, the magnetic‑plasmon‑resonance (MPR) of the ferrite sphere is tracked while sweeping the tunable magnet. The system records the resonance frequency and Q‑factor, and dedicated electrodynamic‑model‑based software compares the responses to extract the intrinsic ferromagnetic linewidth ΔH with high repeatability.
