2.22 Element Change
The Element Change dialogue allows changing position and parameters of elements and can be invoked from Select Element dialogue or from Edit Element context menu.
Name is the name of the element and it can be changed here.
Type is equivalent to Bottom/top kind originally set in the Define Level dialogue when drawing the element: ElementE corresponds to Electric, ElementN to Neutral, ElementS to Suspended and it cannot be changed here.
Height is the height of the element originally set in the Define Level dialogue when drawing the element and it can changed here.
Shift frame allows shifting the element is space.
Medium frame allows changing the medium of the element and its display. Note that the medium can be defined inside or outside the element. This means that after defining the shape of the element the QW-Editor acts on the inside (outside) space and fills with the given medium all the available space not occupied by other elements. Note that a combination of medium inside and medium outside elements in one project is particularly hazardous in this regard. The recommended way of software operation is to always use the medium inside option! (Attention: in early versions of QW-Editor the medium outside option was necessary for making holes in metal layers of zero thickness. Now such holes can be made in a typical way, by Cut operation on the considered metal layer of zero thickness marked as passive, by an active tool being either another metal element of zero thickness or element of non-zero thickness made of any medium. The medium outside option is maintained only for compatibility with previous versions of the software and internal use by QWED support.)
Pen allows changing the element display colour in QW-Editor, without changing its medium. Note that the element display in QW-Simulator will still be governed by the medium.
Put UDO command designed to save an element or object on disk as an UDO object. Note that the element or object will be saved with values of its parameters at the moment of opening this Element Change dialogue (changes of e.g. Name, Medium, or Height made after opening the dialogue but before pressing Put UDO will be ignored). Attention: Put UDO command is not operational for medium outside elements, and may create confusing UDO objects from such elements.
Amigo status allows changing the Amigo status of the selected element or disable the operation of Amigo on this element altogether.
Mark allows marking the selected element for Reproduce operation.
Active makes the element active for Join operation.
Passive makes the element passive for Join operation.
Bi-phase changes the element to a bi-phased element.
EcsEdit exits the dialogue and escapes the Edit Element mode (the cursor in the 2D Window return to arrow). OK or Cancel exit the dialogue but do not escape the Edit Element mode (the cursor in the 2D Window remains square).
